Perhaps I feel very emotional because I am African America.
I only know that I was born in the USA and I have voted all my adult life as a Democrat. The last time I checked I was born FREE after 1865.

As much as I love, respect and adore my seat mates here, I need to feel that I am entitled to be treated with the same respect I give to others. And it makes me sick to see the tone that is given to the expressions of supportive and skilled TRUTH SEEKERS that make up the BOG. You are awesome and I highly respect your views.

We are not allowed to ride on the front of the DU Bus, plain and simple. If we try to express an opinion,we are pushed aside with UNrecords and nasty words about the President.

The front page is full of Negatives about everything ~ thus, this is the face that DU wishes to give to the World Wide readership.

For some reason the Alert Button does not work for me. And after reviewing the threads a few minutes ago ~ not working much for anyone that wants to be supportive of the Democratic Party.

I will probably get a TS for expressing my opinion but I really don't care anymore. I don't wish to be a House Slave one more second.

I used to genuinely feel proud of DU for having a certain level of political savvy and smarts. Now, not so much. There seems to have been a shift here to people who really NEED attention, and the best way to get it right now is to come up with a variation on the theme of why the President/Democratic Party make you feel (choose one): duped, sad, suicidal, enraged, angry, hoodwinked, betrayed.

Don't let the nonsense get you down.

It's all in our perspective and I'm not much help because I think we're driving one of the buses(to use your metaphor) and President Obama is in the lead. Sure, there's a lot of rock throwing at the windows and logs in our path but we are going to get there and aren't we fortunate to have a leader like the President?

When I look at all the positives..the negatives don't amount to a hill of beans(to use a Casablanca reference):).

I don't mean to make light of your feelings about being on DU right now..we all reach our point that "this is IT"( no matter what situation we find ourselves.. that this isn't working for me anymore..whatever it is). I appreciate you laying it out for us with all your heart and soul..there's absolutley no reason you should tolerate the feeling of not having every right to be on this political board..because you do.

The administration here is entitled to run it the way they want to run it, and they want a heavily moderated board. So, that's what they have. You can argue until you're blue in the face about it--well, no because the moderators don't allow that. Anyway it is what it is. The way I figure it you can choose to live with it here, and then you can say whatever you want to say somewhere else.

Obviously my board is a much smaller board and I try to minimize my mod activity. That has a downside to it too, but it's more of a "sunlight is the best disinfectant" philosophy, as opposed to here where the administration has an agenda.

I used to understand that agenda better and I wish I still had that clarity here, but it is what it is and, again, I can't really begrudge them.

My board is not an anti-DU board. In fact we rarely, if ever, discuss DU. Most of us are liberals. The "conservatives" have largely run off crying because we're a pretty tough bunch when it comes down to it. "Conservatives" don't seem to have much to add anyway.

Oh, and we have a half dozen stupid posters. I've thought about banning them because they're racist, but I do lean toward the "sunlight" idea and, again, I'd love to have more sane posters like you and the rest of us here at the BOG to drown out the mopes.

I'd love to have sane conservatives too, but I can't seem to find any.

I should say, I'm not a prolific poster. My threads are limited to the feminist group and the pro-choice group. I post kind of scattered around the major forums and a couple of sub-groups.

One of the things I like about DU, is that it's always driven to do my own research, find my own facts. I still like that about DU. What I see now goes beyond negatives, it's misinformation as fast and far as Obama haters can post them. I understand legitimate concerns, or complaints, I have no beef with those type of posters. I have a few concerns myself.

But what I see so much more of is complete and utter bullshit. I think some folk are just directionlessly angry so they post this weird CRAP that help them express their anger. If one however, politely attempts to point out that bullshit is bullshit, one gets accused of defending the President without thought; in fact, that one would no doubt defend the President even if he was say, an tentacled alien cattle mutilator caught in the act. Which, apparently, given the level of bullshit, some folks think he really is. The level of paranoia, fear and hatred is freaky, but not unprecedented. It bothers me that people can use the same kind of vitriol ageist President Obama that they would against that asshole bush.

I've been paying more and more attention to how bad it is, or can be. I don't understand it exactly either.

I see threads that are just horrible get those 'K&R' or other affirmations. The threads I'm talking about are the ones like you say-- not only have no integrity, but here is no way to actually even HAVE a decent debate or even a heated argument, using actual facts no matter how someone chooses to interpret those facts.

There is no article too full of lies or too foul that won't get the obligatory 125-150 recs in GD. It doesn't matter that 90% of the time, in the next day or so that a cogent rebuttal and in some cases, damn near retraction is posted.

And what's funny is that the shitty article will get the 125-150 recs. Any rebuttal, no matter how valid, will get 1/4 of that if lucky. And the folks posting "change we can believe in!!one" and "he's sooo dreamy!!1!!1" in the original post will be nowhere to be found in any rebuttal. It's so weird. Stupid as hell and just... weird.

9. Keep using Alert, please

I find it works pretty well for me. I usually try to express what the problem is in one or two lines, and then say something to the Mod like "But it's your call" or "Wouldn't want to have your job." When I check back later, a lot of times I see the post is gone. Once or twice I've done a bit of casual research on a poster and let the Mod know I've detected a pattern.

More and more, though, I've been reading OP headlines and just passing by. It's sad.
