This is a bit of a crowded thread but follow the comments by Skinner and you will get a better feel for how the new rules will be enforced.

1. Reading that thread, all I can think of is, "haters gonna hate."

The rub now is to figure out how to keep doing it using DU's bandwidth.

2. I dunno, but it seems we could end up ...

in pretty much the same situation by simply considering all Dem pols as omnipresent DU members under the current civility rules rather than generic public figures due any sort of attack. Basically extend the civility requirements towards members to Dem pols:

You are permitted to criticize public figures, who are not protected under our rules against personal attacks. However, if a public figure is a member of our community, that person is protected by our rules and you are not permitted to personally attack that person. (You are permitted to offer constructive criticism of their activities as a public figure.)
