DU is what it is. If you/we want a site that really is a safe haven for Democrats, we're looking in the wrong place. That's not a knock - it's reality. This is the place you come to in order to get beaten up from the supposed left, even though we ARE liberals. MSM and cable news are where you go to get beaten up from the right.

In fact, the part of the rules that talks about a safe haven clearly states that DU is a safe haven from attacks coming from the right. It says nothing about attacks that come from the left; therefore, those attacks are okay.

I think we all read too much into the safe haven clause. I know I did.

Look at DU over the past 18 months. Our own party brought on the results of a big republican win. This party may be positive in the big umbrella sense, but the inability of so many members to view the big picture results is disgraceful.

24. I'd like to know too

I'm thinking about taking at least a brief vacation from here. It has been in full meltdown mode here since last week and I'm tired of being brought down every time I come in here by the unceasing barrage of anti-Obama OPs. I get that a lot of people are upset about the tax cut deal that Obama negotiated and I understand why but the way some people are talking like it's the end of the world- or that he gave away the farm with NOTHING to show for it. Of course, there has been a (fairly) low intensity or undercurrent of discontent towards President Obama here since day 1 but it has always been somewhat tolerable. It has become far less so in recent days. As a matter of fact, it is even beginning to sound like Fox News-lite with somebody making a veiled references to Obama's supposed reliance on teleprompters when comparing him to Bill Clinton. Also, it seems like some people have begun rehashing the primaries as well. I don't think that people need to "heart" the President or worship him or anything but it seems like there is so much more energy being expended attacking President Obama for EVERYTHING- whether or he is not actually responsible for it- than the Republicans, which makes ZERO sense to me. I hope that things die down and that we are able to pull ourselves together enough in time for 2012 because we need another Republican Presidency like we need a hole in our heads. :banghead:
