this group is growing bigger. Thanks to Lamp Shade's assistance I can tell you the current count is about 115 people. So for all of you frustrated and disheartened you are not alone. You are also not "cheer leaders", "corporate shrills", "water carriers" or "DLC sell out". You guys are the heart and soul of the Democratic party. I have been shocked by some of the posts. I have finally just had to give up going to the main discussion boards unless there is a really good reason because it upsets me too much. Due to my health, I am not suppose to allow myself to become too upset so I leave the venturing over there to you of stronger hearts. I supported BHO in the primary and the GE, ans still do. I believe that if employment improves as the economy is slowly beginning to, and there is even a little immediate benefit in healthcare, we will pick up seats in congress despite the population seats the GOP will gain in the House in '10. We may not break even in the House, but I suspect a gain of 2 or more in the Senate, and I expect Obama to win in '12.

The BOG is a restorative breath of fresh air. Coming to DU was getting to be a real downer, so I'm happy to find a group of more realistic, positive, non-nihilists here in BOG.

I'd like to lose 60 pounds by January 1, but it ain't gonna happen--just like we Democrats can't fix in a year all the evils of the previous eight years (GWB) and earlier (Puke-controlled House & Senate).

To fix those evils, we've got to stick to a plan, work together, support each other, be patient, and assume good intent on the part of our President (unless, of course, one of us has a really, really inside track about what's truly happening behind closed doors in Washington).

I finally broke down and became a donor just to be able to post here. I have been lurking since Katrina, registered once then and lost my username and id (thank you, Password software) then re-registered during the Presidential campaign. So, I am a longtime reader of DU.

It has been my habit to glance at DU (GD-P and GD) right before my morning status meeting each day. I was ready to abandon DU altogether because of the vitriol and RW infiltration when I discovered this group. So I finally donated so I could tell you what a delight it is to find sanity again within DU.

It's even harder when you're new to politics. All the negatives comments toward the President from Democrats is surprising. The headline that read "Black Man Gets Worse Job In The World" (correct, I think) was so right. Some people were not paying attention. I was expecting the President to turn everything around his first year in office. I don't understand why he didn't have Bush's mess cleared up last July. Surly he had enough time. :sarcasm: That seems to be the mindset here.

I hope I can convince people to join DU. The President needs more support. Howard Dean speaks for me is back, again. Another week, another suggestion about a candidate to run against the President. :banghead: I'm sick of it.

I can understand why there are misconceptions about our government and the power of the presidency. We have a President who repects that his branch in one of three, and that makes him a traitor to our cause(?)
