I was hoping Clark or Gore would enter the race. Now that Clark has endorsed Clinton, that door has shut. It's probably too late for Gore to enter the race.
So now, I'm officially an undecided voter.
Given the current momentum, we'll either get Edwards, Clinton, or Obama as our nominee. They are not perfect. At least two have done things that some of us cannot forgive. There are concerns, at least for one of them, regarding ties to large corporations and lobbying groups. We wonder about how sincere they are during the stump speeches. We wonder if they will have the courage to take the tough actions necessary to fix the damage done by 8 years of George W. Bush (which may include increasing taxes for high income voters). But each of them, I believe, are fundamentally good people.
Any one of them will be a far superior president than the Republican nominee, whoever he may be.
Any one of the potential Democratic nominees can defeat a Republican. I really believe that. Not because they're extraordinarily strong and compelling candidates, but because the Republican lineup is utterly pathetic and people have had enough of Republican rule. We cannot afford to lose. Lives are at stake. And if the Democrats lose the general election, that kind of incompetence will be unforgivable and there will be hell to pay.
For those of us who have a vote during the primaries, we'll be studying Obama, Clinton, and Edwards carefully. Somedays, we'll lean towards one, other days, towards another. But eventually, we will vote for whoever we believe is the best candidate.
A request to Edwards, Obama and Clinton supporters. If you want to win over undecided DUers, stop the negative attacks because it only hurt your candidate. If you have a legitimate criticism, we are interested in hearing it, but back it up with facts and logic.
