No harm trying again, but AFN has been strangely resistant to dumping pigboy for 15 years. Their explanation for keeping Rush in the face of soldier complaints used to be that he was "balance" for NPR. They used to say that, over and over -- a sedate general interest news program needed a few hours of rightwing ideological cant as counterpoint. When that wore threadbare after a number of years, they switched to calling Rush "controversial" and they had other controversial hosts in the lineup to keep things fair. When pressed to name the personality that countered Rush, they said... Tom Joyner. Yep, a crew of morning drive cutups was the anti-Rush. Seriously. AFN just flat out doesn't want to let him go.
