| McCain's mom just basically dissed Romney for being Morman (on Hardball) |
|
McCain was squirming pretty badly! She's a feisty old lady, that's for sure.

 I guess that depends on who is speaking.
Free speech zones come too mind. I wasn't dissing McCain's mother . She can say whatever she wants. I just think it's rather amusing that she is dissing Romney for being a Mormon.
Ya know, that whole freedom of religion thing.
Personally, I think organized religion stinks. But that's just me.

When McCain tried to distance himself from that, she pointed out that Chris had asked her.

OK, I keep saying this, but I'm reading 'Under the Banner of Heaven' and just the basis of the religion is too wacked to be believed.

Tweety tried to get her to say what she thought of Giuliani. She didn't bite. She was a very bright 95 year old. Tough and intelligent.

Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 08:13 PM by WinkyDink
that Catholicism is the "true and apostolic faith"!
I think Mormonism is a cult, just as I think Moonies belong to one.

| 21. The Way She Said Romney Was A "MORMON" Showed Her Real Disgust For Them! |
|
And then she went on to say that him being a MORMON form SALT LAKE CITY, and them being the ones who owned the SCANDAL from the Olympics, well, it wasn't much for him to have fixed it since he was one of them in the first place. I mean, wow, I have never seen such blatant prejudice on live TV before. Of course, you'd know that her son, McCain, would immediately try to back away from her comments, but for Hardball host Chris Matthews to say (paraphrasing) "he hoped no Mormons in Utah took offense to little ol' 95 yr old Ms. McCain's harmless little comments.... Who is he to smooth over prejudice comments just spewed on his show. So she's an old lady. She was trotted out to show that McCain might live another 20 years or so. Seems she's fair game to further explore just what prejudices are alive and well in his immediate family.

|
That's pretty risky of him. People that age often say exactly what they're thinking, even if it's shocking or rude. My mom once took my grandma (who was in her late 90s) to the doctor's office and, after the nurse had taken her vitals and had turned to go out the door, my grandma says, "My, that's quite a wide hiney!" lol
