| What's worse: What Eliot Spitzer did or what David Vitter did? |
|
I'm going to say Vitter, because he is a strong believer in "family values" and still hired hookers anyway.
That said, has anyone else noticed that Vitter's scandal was quickly swept under the rug by the media, but Spitzer's scandal is everywhere and in great detail? Helps to further quash that 'liberal media' bullshit.

(OK you are correct about the double standard; the only way male repukes get their due is if they are found with live boys)

And Alberto Gonzales.
And Donald Rumsfeld.
And on down the list of traitors to the spirit of our Founders and the integrity of our society now.

Why are sexual (victimless) crimes always worse than killing more than a million people for no reason other than greed?

But it's hard not to notice when Republicans' scandals are constantly ignored by the media.

But I don't think we can do it by acting like the Republicans and ignoring the problem in our own camp.

No contest. Hypocrisy is one thing, but Spitzer's outdoes Vitter,s by 1/100.
I thought I was beyond shocking, but guess not.

| 14. Sorry, but I grew up in France, |
|
and what a politician does in the bedroom, is nobody's concern.
In France, most high level prostitutes make their money from servicing businessmen and politicians. Isn't it the same here? Why all this judgment about Spitzer? Did he come out against prostitution, or just financial fraud? If his main actions were against prostitution, then I agree, he should resign. Otherwise, what does one have to do with the other? Just like Craig...the problem is not that he might have solicited someone in a restroom. The problem is that he was so openly anti-gay. Is it worse to make an appointment with a professional, than to break someone's heart like JFK and RFK did with Marilyn Monroe?
I am always weary of righteous judgment on sexual matters...

| 16. One's Under Investigation, The Other Isn't |
|
Vitter's name came out due to the numbers released by a DC Madam (and then ABC sat on it) but was never part of the trial. We can agree this is wrong...and its a disgrace that the Senate Ethics Committee (insert chuckle here) hasn't even looked into this or Craig (isn't that another Lieberman committee??). In short, Vitter was never investigated, Spitzer appears to be the target here.
Also, if reports of him paying for her to cross state lines, bought the train ticket and so on, its crossing state lines, a lot different than dropping a couple bucks in the neighborhood cathouse. Plus, Spitzer was a prosecutor, he knows the law and appears to have wontingly broken it. Tweety, dare I say, asked the ultimate question...would Elliot Spitzer indict himself? Stay tuned, but it doesn't look good.
Vitter's crime is primarily a moral one and the fact he remains in office shows the craven need for power and a desperate repugnican party that welcomes Craig, Vitter, Renzi and hypocrites with open arms. They have no pot to shit in.
