| Can anyone tell me WHY the Dems don't simply REVOKE the 2002 authorization |
|
they gave Bush?
That would end his ability to wage war in Iraq.

| 12. We can't get cloture on the minimum wage bill. |
|
So for now everything stops in the senate. Even if we managed the 60 votes to get over that hurdle, Dumbass would veto it. We would then have to get 2/3 of both houses to override that.
I am not saying we shouldn't do it, we should, I'm saying we should do it knowing full well that it will fail.

| 2. It must not be that easy or, surely, they would do it. |
|
But is it difficult because of the potential for political fallout? Because it might cost some Democrats their seats? Or is it difficult/impossible for some legal/constitutional reason?

| 5. Personally, I think that's a very good idea. |
|
Bush will claim some sort of inherent authority to continue as commander-in-chief, however.
The bottom line is to begin to cut off funding. And that's coming.

| 13. They are talking about re-authorizing the war, with specific goals |
|
and benchmarks, and redeployment as part of those benchmarks. I think they are working on it, and Chuck Hagel being on their side is a great asset. Thoughtful legislation takes time, the most dangerous part for our troops will be the withdrawl.

|
according to the constitutional checks and balances. But they would have to remove their chicken suits.

|
and didn't the dems ignore it?
Or maybe its too soon.
They need to get off their asses - my nephew joined the marines, (which we tried for 3 years to talk him out of).
