That blew me away. KO suggested it and he just got this weird deer-in-headlights expression, then said, "wow, maybe it is" or some such... Did he really not see the internal irony of the phrase when he wrote it? Amazing.

"Coercive democracy" certainly follows as a concise description of forcing a new brand of representational government on a foreign nation at gunpoint. The resulting democracy may be a fake, but the coercion is all too real.

And the most plausible argument I saw was that Bush may be able to declassify things on his own, but he would have to do it through some sort of formal procedure. He can't just act as though information was never classified and tell his underlings to leak it.

|
He's basically fingered the president for treason, fraud, and a host of other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Yet he displays none of the requisite fear and paranoia that comes with playing stool pigeon against a mob boss.
Perhaps the bushistas consider his viewpoint to be inconsequential this far into the second term? Or he still believes in the fundamental goodness of W?

Had high hopes for a good president. I was in 9/11 mindset. At that point, I put my trust in president and team. After I left, I began having revelations and became more disillusioned and I had to stop and think about "what happened" and why it didn't turn out the way he had ideally envisioned it.
Karl Rove, Dana, and company: We never knew you felt this way. He continued to believe in president. He had qualms. Basically saying rocking the boat was not productive.
