What should McCain's campaign song be?
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 07:51 PM by ck4829
I think the Daily Show is onto something - Eric Carmen's "All by Myself"

Agree or would you prefer something else?

15. September Song
Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short,
When you reach September.
When the autumn weather
Turn leaves to flame
One hasn't got time
For the waiting game.
Oh the days dwindle down
To a precious few . . .
September, November . . .
And these few precious days
I'll spend with you.
These precious days
I'll spend with you.
Oh the days dwindle down
To a precious few . . .
September, November . . .
And these few precious days
I'll spend with you.
These precious days
I'll spend with you.
These precious days
I'll spend with you.

16. "When I grow to old to dream"
Linda Ronstadt

We have been gay, going our way.
Life has been beautiful.
We have been young.
After you're gone life will go on,
like an old song we have sung.

When I grow too old to dream
I'll have you to remember.

When I grow too old to dream
your love will live in my heart.
So, kiss me my sweet,
and so, let us part,
and when I grow too old to dream,
that kiss will live in my heart.

Cat Stevens "Father and Son"
Father
Its not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
Youre still young, thats your fault,
Theres so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but Im happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that its not easy,
To be calm when youve found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything youve got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
Its always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now theres a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

27. not from his childhood... impossible
There are a few things you need for a song that didn't exist when he was growing up.

1. Language: contrary to Mel Brooks' "history of the world(part 1)" to sing you need words. When McCain was growing up, cavemen didn't speak.

2. Music. This implies instruments and rhythm: if they don't have words, then they don't have instruments either. Ok, ok I guess you could beat on a rock, but we know white guys got no rhythm. Especially McCain.

28. And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
