I think Bush SHOULD pardon Libby

Now hear me out before flaming me and calling me a FReeper, I think that if he pardons Scooter that would be the biggest and most offensive way he could thumb his nose at the American criminal justice system.

That said, from a political perspective, let him pardon Libby. If he does than he's all but saying, "I don't care what the constitution or rule of law or any of that says, I'm covering this guy's ass because he did something that impacts my administration and I'm protecting him because he's a loyal stooge."

If the idiot pardons Libby, he's all but saying that Bush was in up to his eyeballs in blowing Valerie Plame's cover and that would make him stink even higher in the public eye than before.

So while it would be horrible and wrong for him to do it now, if Chimpy wants to do it now and ignore the trial results, than he's ensuring that he will go down in flames and his party will be going with him.

1. I posted the same thing just after the verdict. It also makes the whole story

about Bush, instead of Libby, and that's a good thing for us. It might even pressure the nation to pressure Congress to investigate further, although if Fitzgerald couldn't get the truth out of these guys, I doubt anyone else can.

His father did the same thing with his pardons after Iran-Contra, which was another - arguably equally treasonable - immense conspiracy by the same bunch of idiots who are running the White House nowadays.

8. Here's the problem

He's already thumbed his nose at the U.S. Constitution in so many ways, and appears to have gotten away with it.
If he pardoned Libby, Libby would go free and then the mainstream media would go on to more "important" news, such as what is happening in Anna Nicole's baby's life, or how the lovesick astronaut is doing. The public has a short memory.
Could Libby be called as a witness in Valerie Plame's civil suit? He wouldn't dare commit perjury at that point if he was still in jail for lying.
