| At least the Georgia Russian conflict will serve to remind everyone that the US economy is not the |
|
most important issue. Sad that it takes a war to remind people of that.

People will still think its the economy. No one cares about what's going on in Russia if their neighbors or themselves are being removed from their houses by the sheriff.
When things are going well, foriegn policy may be an issue. When the economy stinks and you don't know how you'll be able to make ends meet or are worried about your job security the economy is always the issue.
Most Americans don't even know that a war is going on over there right now.

Nobody is going to vote on Russian policy towards contested breakaway regions of former Soviet Republics. Democracy works best when people vote their self interest--and that self interest is ensuring that they can keep their families healthy, fed, clothed, and sheltered.

Seeing Cheney and Bush chastise the Russians is hysterical. The only thing this conflict reminds me of is how low we have gone.
