| I think this bailout is going to hurt Dems politically in the elections. |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 03:04 PM by GOPBasher
I think I'm in a minority here, but I view the bailout as a necessary evil to avert a major depression -- maybe the worst in our history. But most Americans are against it, and if it's passed by congressional Dems, I really think it will hurt us in the elections. I don't know. I'm worried about another great depression on one hand, and losing seats on the other. Obviously, the latter is less important, but still important.
Thoughts?

| 3. If a full bill passes it probably will hurt the Democrats |
|
If they are smart they will go for a temporary measure with a low dollar amount to buy them time to properly deliberate on the real bill, and try to push it past the election.

I've seriously been thinking the past couple of days about how we can navigate this. That plan is way better than anything I've come up with.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=ayyjXs25Y7oE&refer=homeI don't know what the answers are, but I'm not for bailing anyone out (with the same mistakes repeated in the future). I do support TOUGH/SMART legislation that is not rammed through. And Kaptur's call for special prosecution.

| 8. Well I would want a lot of re-regulation in any bill. I think we agree on |
|
that much. As for the inevitability of the economic slump, I agree, but I think it could be far softer if we figure out a way to, first, calm the markets, and second, to get more liquidity, more lending, in the marketplace. Without any lending, we're fucked, fucked, fucked.

|
Most of what I'm reading boils down to "because they say it's necessary, and my 401(k) lost a lot of money".

We need lending in the economy, and right now, no one is lending. Also, I have no money to begin with, but many people I know lost a lot of money in their 401K. :-)

| 16. Have you considered that the people withholding the credit are those |

that benefit from this giant welfare check. Also, that the Fed has the authority to direct the issuance of that needed credit and hasn't?
Dealing with terrorists leads to more terrorism. Isn't that what "we all know"?

Ummm, How do you think we got in this mess? If Democrats lose then all of America loses "Big Time". The most important thing at this time in space is to make sure Democrats maintain the Majority and a Democrat is President. Then and only then can true reform begin....I am fairly certain we can make it one more month without total collapse and then the healing can begin..
