| My email to Wachovia customer service |
|
I have been a happy Wachovia/First Union customer since 1992, and I am currently a Wachovia stockholder, however I considered severing my relationship with the bank after reading the news yesterday regarding the $8 million loan Wachovia just extended to the Republican National Congressional Committee. In the midst of the most severe credit crunch in our history, this is indeed troubling news to me especially considering the RNCC’s financial accounting problems as reported in the Washington Post earlier this year. It also does not seem that such largess to a particular political party is appropriate when the US government itself, through the FDIC, recently helped to keep Wachovia’s doors open when it helped to broker the now-defunct deal with Citigroup.
I have decided not to move my account today. Instead I have decided to write this email to you personally as a Wachovia employee. I want to keep my account with Wachovia, I want Wachovia to be a better bank and I want you to keep your job. You will not be able to reply to this email with your personal opinions regarding this matter, and I fully understand that. I would ask, however, that you consider our national circumstances and vote for change. Please vote for Barack Obama and a straight Democratic ticket by November 4.
Thank you and have a nice day.
