ANTI-REPUBLICAN VOTER SUPPRESSION THREAD! HERE IS THE INFO TO VERIFY YOUR ELIGIBILITY BEFORE NOV 4!
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 10:10 AM by bobd0
I posted this information http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4292874&mesg_id=4292874">in this previous thread but it was buried in the middle of the thread so I'm taking Snappyturtles hint {thanks for the hint, Snappyturtle} and posting it again here in its own thread because I truly believe that verifying voter eligibility prior to Election Day is one of the most important actions Democratic voters can take to assure we can all vote and all of our votes are counted.

Republican voter purges. Republican voter disenfranchisement. Republican voter suppression tactics.

They happen every election cycle and NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION AND SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

So take a few minutes and verify your voter eligibility so there are no "surprises" on Election Day. And pass this link on to everyone you know so they can do the same!

Start with this link from Long Distnace Voter that provides links for states that have online voter registration verification.
http://www.longdistancevoter.org/verify_voter_registration

That link should suffice for the vast majority of voters but I also went state by state and tried to add additional contact information where I could find it. I may have duplicated some of the information from Long Distance Voter but here are the state by state links.

NOW MAKE SURE YOU'RE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE AND BE SURE YOU GET OUT AND VOTE!
BECAUSE THE ONLY POLL THAT COUNTS IS THE POLL THAT'S TAKEN ON ELECTION DAY!

lots of info in there, including the Secretary of State's home page, plus the phone numbers to your own town hall, and the voting systems you will use. That's a keeper.. :kick:

5. Interesting, I just called the city clerks office because neither mine nor the So's
registeration was mailed to us. In september I checked and it said we weren't registered according to the state web site, so we re-registered. The clerks office just told me that we have been registered since july according to city records. Anyhow the city clerk will be mailing us what we need to vote with. Good gravy wtf is going on this year? I have been a registered voter since 1979, which my mother kind of freaked out about cause she thought I didn't vote lol.

Yes I know republicons don't want americans voting in large numbers, it means they lose.

6. I'm glad you got that straightened out. Election Day is no time to find out
you're not eligible to vote. Robert Kennedy was on MSNBC the other morning talking about voter suppression and he said that in some cases even though voters are permitted to vote at their polling place their votes can be disallowed later because of Republican voter purges.

Please, everyone, check to be sure you're properly registered while there is still time!
