Gov. Granholm Issues Statement On Rescue Bill's Failure Friday, December 12, 2008 By: Jennifer M. Granholm
Republican senators have just delivered a fierce slap at three million workers across America. Their no vote is an astounding blow: They have chosen to ignore the livelihood of three million Americans, three million families, and in the process have have chosen to drive the American manufacturing industry - and perhaps the American economy - into the ground. They are choosing foreign competitors over American industry and American workers. A nation without a strong manufacturing sector is a nation without a viable defense sector. This is a shameful day, a day we will not forget.

| 2. A shameful day indeed, Governor |
|
She put it perfectly. It's shameful that the Republicans' desire to destroy the unions is more important than millions of American jobs. Granholm is correct that "A nation without a strong manufacturing sector is a nation without a viable defense sector." And, yes, WE WILL NOT FORGET....I guess the Republicans have no intention of winning Michigan again.

it will be perfectly clear to Michiganders that our economic problems have nothing to do her her.I predict that Michigan will be a bluer state than it is now in the future.

Guilt by association -- it's going to be a while before Republicans can win here again. She inherited problems from Engler and now the Republicans are adding to them in spades. Between our state Senate stopping her at every turn and now this, she is not to blame for our problems.

I think the Dems will win. The only Republican I see winning is Candice Miller (I think Terri Lynn Land will be the nominee).

saying the same thing.Over and over as loudly as they can, until the pukes are forced to make their case for throwing the American worker under the bus.Force them to admit that they want jobs to go to the lowest bidder and damn the middle class.

| 12. Here's Lt. Gov. Cherry's statement |
|
"We are witnessing Congressional unraveling of the American Dream and the demolition of the very foundation of our national security. A few beltway insiders who are completely out of touch with the struggles of American families decided to settle old political scores at the expense of millions of jobs and our national economic security. While bankers get the keys to the Treasury our manufacturers get a one-way ticket to bankruptcy and American families are left unprotected."

we will spend more in unemployment benefits and lost income taxes than the loan package (bailout, if you will) was for.
This makes no sense.

Boy is she right....not many people realize how interconnected the auto industy and defense industy are... lots of parts, supplies and electronics are shared.
