| I am so tired of the cracks about Gore's weight!!!!! I personally like |
|
a man with meat on his bones! The attacks and remarks are as lethal as cracks on sex, nationality, religion....
Why is it "acceptable" to knock someone because of their weight?????? AND Why are we not more outraged at those vicious type of attacks?

get into discussions about "fat bastards" I'd say Gore has a ways to go before he can hop on the opposite scale from Denny "Big Boy" Hastert.

And Jeb has put on a lot of pounds recently.
Then there's Hastert. Talk about a fatty.

| 5. Hatred of fat people is among the last acceptable biases |
|
Anti-fat bias has the same psychological structure as any other form of bigotry. Just as a religious person feels they are "saving" a gay person by opposing them, a fat bigot thinks they are concerned with someone's health when they knock them for that. So the people who snipe at Al over his weight are feeling smug because they think they are "awakening" him to something he knows one hell of a lot better than they do. lol
Beyond which fact, the man has dropped forty pounds over the last year.

| 6. I am so tired of the personal comments, too. Will we ever get past |
|
the silly, inane things and go to the character of the person?
As long as there are repugs there will be personal attacks, snarky remarks about looks, silly comments on families, homes, cars they drive. I don't care if Al Gore weighs 500 lbs (although I would worry about his health), I care more that he is a honest, decent, moral person.
I don't care if Hillary wears pant suits or ball gowns. I don't spend a lot of time worrying if she needs a hair cut or her roots touched up. I don't care if Barney is gay or not. I especially don't care to ponder their religious (or lack thereof) affiliation. The repugs have devolved politics into personal destruction to an art form - but I refuse to participate.
That said, I'll attack hypocrisy any time I see or hear it. The repugs have kept us all busy!

|
Consider it a sign of (backhanded) respect. Gore scares them enough to go into full out lying and character assassination mode.
The attacks that really piss me off are the ones about "inventing the internet" and "house uses 20 times more energy than average" and "flies private jet but expects us to walk everywhere." Simply going off on appearance ain't gonna do much when the republics are running the likes of Newt, McCain and Rudy....

I suppose the overriding belief is that a person is in control of his/her weight; that is, put down the Ho-Ho's and you might not be packing 300 lbs. The attacks are juvenile and mean, but many of us haven't gotten past schoolyard taunts. Come to think of it, I'm guilty of it too since I refer to Ann Coulter as a "bony-ass bitch" and am obviously knocking her b/c of her weight. Among other things...

Criticize him for what he says if you disagree, but not for how much he weighs. His weight has nothing to do with anything.
I was ticked at Jon Stewart last night for jumping on the "Gore is fat" bandwagon. :eyes:
And I'll never forget asshole Matthews for his attacks on Gore in 2000. From the size of his neck, the way he parts his hair, to his breathing. Absolutely sickening.
Who is Matthews to judge? Sheesh! I have a few choice words I could spew about him, and I've never even seen him in a Speedo! :puke:

| 16. Definitely one of the last "acceptable" forms of prejudice |
|
Liberals are just as guilty of it as conservatives. It's awful. Any time you bring it up fat acceptance people start in with the comments about health as if that justifies cruelty. Some of the most devoted exercisers I know are overweight and very, very fit (like walk 10 miles a day plus do kick boxing 4 times a week fit). So the thought that overweight people are unilaterally unhealthy is bullshit.
There's a saying - I may be fat but you're stupid. And I can go on a diet.

If he wouldn't sit on such delicate chairs you wouldn't be hearing the cracking.
I kid! I kid! One of the most embarrassing moments at the office was breaking one of the el cheapo rolling chairs right in front of the boss. The way it broke, there was still a sharp metal spike sticking up from the wheelbase. I'm just glad I didn't impale myself on that.
