What are you doing for Inauguration Day?

In Germany my friend and I will drape a US flag over our balcony rail for German neighborhood view, placing three smaller flags, American, German, and EU flags, in a tulip pot, also in pubic view. We will turn on our still-hanging Christmas lights on FLASH mode and watch the inauguration drinking Dom Perignon and burning a snowman candle. My friend says the candleburning will symbolize the melting of prior Frosty relations between the Bushies and the EU (not to mention rest of the world), while to me it will symbolize the ridding the WH and country of its drug-addled "snow"man so Americans can move forward toward a clearer thinking, more honest and open, civilized government.

Real accountability would be a dream come true. Rebuilding trust and respect around the world will be nothing but another broken American dream, without accountability. 14. Just Take In The History...

Last night I drove around Grant Park where President Obama gave his victory speech...and got goosebumps. I have no clue on how I will feel on Tuesday other than both proud and relieved.

I still remember JFK's inauguation and have watched almost every one ever since. The best were Carter's (walking down Pennsylvania Ave.) and Clinton (no biases here...LOL)...where I felt there was a change coming and a good one. It sure beats both the anger and dread I felt in 2001 knowing this country would be going to hell...and in retrospect, I vastly underestimated the damage the boooosh regime could do.

This is definitely a day just to watch and soak it all in...which is what I expect to do.

25. Watching the inauguration in my classroom with my students

I will be using my new smart board to project it from the internet onto the big screen. I am having a party. I made little treat bags for the kids with candy, buttons, stickers, pencils, and the usual kid party bag stuff. I also have some games, word searches, puzzles and an essay for them to write. It should be a fun day and I am really looking forward to it. I can't take the day off because it is the day after a holiday.

I wanted to watch the inauguration with my local county party at their event but when I realized I would have to go to school that day, I planned a party. And I am looking forward to it.
