| I think we are going to be okay...I have lost my instant worry wart button |
|
I can't find my worry wart thought process. I have for the last 8 years, got up every morning and looked at various news sources, and proceeded to "worry" for the next 12 hours.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we do not have tougher times ahead than we have even had in the past, and there is not tremendous work to do. Or am I saying things should not be pointed out when people make wrong headed decisions.
But I think in the end, we are going to be okay, we are going to make it out of this morass and give our children, grand children and generations forward a better place to start their improvements from.
I think we are going to be okay

I'm very concerned.
I am in my mid to late 40s and apparently unemployable despite being well educated and having held and performed well in a number of responsible positions.
If I am seriously injured or acquire a serious illness or chronic health problem I know I will be denied the care I require.
There is ***NOTHING*** to indicate that either of those things are going to change anytime in the forseeable future.
I would better myself by sneaking across the border and living illegally south of the border.

| 3. My brother, also in his 40's is in the very same boat.. |
|
You have my complete sympathy. I know that does not help the situation, but I do have some understanding of where you are coming from.
Its ugly, and looks to get uglier. But if we had kept going as it were under the Bush administration, I think there would be no hope at all for either you or my brother.
But again that does not put food on the table, or the big one.. insurance. The buy in to the previous employers insurance plan for the unemployed is just so dang expensive.
My brother cannot afford that.
My hope is that the government will at least extend insurance benefits to those unemployed while they look for work, in much the way unemployment insurance is extended.
That would be a first great step to universal health coverage.

| 4. Back in here again.. you know Coyote.. I think we should |
|
write the Obama people on that.. insurance benefits for the unemployed. That is what is scaring us the most for my brother right now, if something happened to him. As I was posting to you about my brother that idea just struck me.

| 5. That's a good idea but let me also add |

increased funding for small business start up funding (perhaps even artificially low interest rates as a small business stimulus) and Medicare health coverage (or a comparable mandated state plan) available to anyone who starts or works in a small business.
We are not going to be able to create enough jobs in the near future to employ all the folks who need and want work. A lot of these folks are going to become self-employed out of necessity. Two of the largest obstacles for new businesses is capital and health care. We should provide them the resources to have some hope of suceeding.
