In my opinion, people at congressional hearing should be able to hold signs whenever they want and for however long they want to as long as they are not disrupting the hearing. I am writing this post in response to two congressional hearing in which the chairmen told individuals holding signs to stop holding their signs. From what I could see the people were not disrupting the hearings. It seems that they were just standing with their signs. I think the chairmen should have allowed the people to continue to hold their signs as long as they like.
Americans have a right to peacefully protest. Holding signs and protesting at congressional hearing seems to be an American thing. That is just something American do. It is part of being an American. I guess it could be said that holding sings and protesting at congressional hearings is as American as apple pie (even if apple pie is not completely American).

| 1. It is in the nature of authoritarians to try and get away with... |

quashing dissent, even if it's non disruptive in nature.
Until someone (the people) tells them otherwise.
We've become so accustomed to authoritarian conduct, that we don't see it for what it is when it rears its ugly head.
P.S. Authoritarian is not the same as authoritative, of course.
