How about a Humor forum at DU?

I love my Nation, In These Times and American Prospect, but none of these come close to The Progressive for one reason: The Progressive has a satirist or two on staff.

This has always been one of my complaints about many liberals - that they don't show their humor enough. And that's what we can always use a little bit more of.

I think the posts in so many of the threads are rife with some incredibly clever and funny remarks. I know I miss a lot of them, but when I read the DUzys, jeez, I'm convulsed, because there are some comic geniuses at work here.

5. My advice: Don't rely on DU for humor. Instead, do this....

use other networking sites/forums that specialize in humor. I'm a humor writer (columnist, blogger, and writing a book) and I've found some good sites to interact with others.

8. I do think you're right!

Many of my liberal friends are really lacking in a sense of humor. We take it all too seriously.

I used to take it all very seriously (and I still do most of the time). In fact I was so upset about the ethical contradictions in this country that I went off to Africa to try to make a difference elsewhere. There I learned that the wisest people, the people with the most exposure to the harsh realities of life were also very easy with laughing, laughing not just at things we call funny, but also laughing at life's many perplexing paradoxes of life itself.

"what can you do?" on friend told me repeatedly "...you must take life simple..." Eventually I began to see that they were right. Since then, I've found it far easier to enjoy my life and to laugh more than I complain or argue or despair.

So bring on the humor forum. We can use it!
