I doubt he rests easily knowing he okayed those killings. He didn't come into this Presidency with the bloodlust we've become so accustomed to in the past 8 years.

To be president is like being a quarterback, you have to have ice in your veins. He's got it. And that's a GOOD thing.
Now, how FDR slept the night of the D-Day invasion I do not know. Eleanor was prowling around like a cat, so, when the call came at - 3am - Gen. Marshall was put through to her and she went and woke FDR to hear the first reports of the action.
