What are you doing for tax day

Are you doing anything to celebrate that in exchange for 20-30% of your gross income going to taxes you get the infrastructure of our democracy, a military, police, fire department, half of our scientific & medical research, roads, a public K-12 educational system and heavily subsidized state public university system, a pension and healthcare in retirement (social security and medicare), a quasi-social safety net and a variety of oversight organizations?

There is nowhere on the private market where I would get that for 25% of my gross income. So I happily pay 25% of my income in public funds to get it all.

If the right wing is going to complain about taxes, I'm going to brag.

I don't like paying taxes, but I don't mind for all the reasons that you stated. The worst thing about right wingers is that the richest people (who complain the loudest)pay less relative to their income because they have people who study all the loopholes. Then they get the average idiot right winger to believe that the taxes they are paying are only going to help other "less deserving" people. Like you said, they always seem to forget that the roads they drive on, the lights, the clean water, and all the rest of the modern conveniences are their because of the taxes we all pay.

and like Obama I believe in personal responsibility for all and responsibility to all as we are each others keepers at least we should rise and fall together whenever possible.
