Obama wants a Committee formed to cut wasteful spending...

He wants experts, technocrats, and others to come up with the programs that might be cut. No doubt, many of the cuts may be sacred cows of the Republicans. They will scream bloody murder when those are made public.

Of course, they have all been preaching that we need to cut spending - not raise taxes. However, when the cuts are finally suggested, they will say that "their" programs are for the national defense or are too important to cut. Obama will prove them all to be hypocrites. 1. Not another committee! Please.

Obama needs to call in every Dept. head and order at least a 10% cut just for starters. Every penny needs to be justified or it's gone. Call in Education Secretary Arne Duncan, for example, and demand that his department show where anything they spend goes to educate students and not just make work for another bureaucracy. Same with defense, HUD, HEW and all the rest. If he is serious Obama needs to chase the money changers from the Temple.

and all Obama has to say is, well, you complained about spending....

4. The brilliance of this is

that he will point out exactly why the cuts need to be made--one was thousands of dollars to design a logo or seal for Homeland Security. When he cuts defense, he'll spell out exactly what is being cut, and will probably comment on the fact that it was sad this money wasn't going to directly help the troops. Then what can the GOP say? He will have undercut any argument they could make.
