| The biggest problem with Public Education is that |
|
they don't teach you American exceptionalism as an ideology in this country is a lion with no teeth. The age old rule of “treat others as you wish to be treated” holds true on the international scale just as it does on an individual personal scale. A failure to respect the rights of nationals of other countries, no matter what country they may be a national of, greatly hampers the safety of our OWN nationals abroad. Based on this, it doesn't matter that the people you wish to torture are "terrorist", because we are behaving like terrorist ourselves. Just something the Right might want to think about.

and the 'treat others as you wish to be treated" is part of the attitudes we are required to teach.

| 9. IB doesn't get a lot of play these days in the US, especially after NCLB and 9/11 |

Unless the school is really dedicated to what it represents, there are too many competing priorities in public high schools.
Even Obama's Alma Mater (Punahou School) does not participate, though its graduation requirements today are quite similar.

Have you ever read what the Japanese and Germans did to our service people in WW2? Or how about how the N Koreans and Chinese treated our POW's? Or how about the North Vietnamese at the direction of the Russians during that police action?

| 8. they allow religious freaks and repukes on education control boards... |
|
not to mention principals and teachers...
and notice I said religious FREAKS - not genuine religious persons.
That TODAYS repukes - who don't believe in public education anyway except for PRIVATE school - should not be anywhere near a school building - goes without saying.
One of the best and most memorable teachers was my High School physics teacher who was a minister - I actually learned a LOT and got what I thought was an impossible A in the course - because he illustrated the principals so well that to this day some forty years later, I still remember them vividly...

that may be a national problem but it isn't our public school systems fault. When are parents going to start taking responsibility for their children's education again?

| 14. Great... let's beat up on the educators again! |
|
:sarcasm: This "attitude" is learned primarily from FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Even if teachers were required to try and instil it, there are many brains out there that can't comprehend 'do unto others'. Don't we see that enough from the conservative side?
