Man sought for threatening president arrested
SALT LAKE CITY — A federal prosecutor in Utah says authorities have arrested a man who allegedly told bank tellers while cleaning out his savings account that he was on a mission to kill President Barack Obama.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Bearnson said Saturday that Daniel James Murray was arrested in Laughlin, Nev., by the U.S. Secret Service and Las Vegas metropolitan police.

The 36-year-old man had been charged Thursday with conveying threats while talking to tellers last month at Zions First National Bank in St. George, Utah.

Bearnson said in Salt Lake City, where the felony charge was filed, that Murray was arrested Friday. He said Murray was in federal custody in Nevada and probably will get a court date there Monday.

A Manhattan man is accused of threatening to blow up Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor and President Barack Obama, prosecutors said.

John Zaubler, 48, was charged Friday with a count of making terroristic threats. According to a criminal complaint, Zaubler also said "he wanted to kill President Obama by blowing him up."

Judge James Gibbons arraigned Zaubler in Manhattan Criminal Court via videoconference from the courtroom at Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was being held.

At 10:39 p.m. last Saturday, Zaubler called 911 from an apartment on West 72nd Street and told an operator, "I'm going to kill Judge Sotomayor by blowing her up. I'm going to blow her up. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it because my girlfriend is not going to federal prison," according to Assistant District Attorney Sharon Applebaum.
