| Can you imagine if Bush had taken us to war with Iran? |
|
Remember how hard Chimpy was pushing for us to go to war with Iran? My personal belief is that he would have if it weren't for the very strong opposition to it from senior military leaders, who, unlike Mr. Deserter, actually had an understanding that you need things like troops and money to fight lots of wars at the same time, and we didn't have enough of them.
But this popular uprising, the Iranian people taking matters into their own hands? How far do you think that something like this would have been set back if we'd attacked? Years? Decades? A long time, IMHO. Democracy can't be forced on a people. They have to be ready for it by standing up and taking power back themselves. The Iranians are proving that they're ready for it. Let's just hope our government doesn't make the same mistakes it made before and take it away from them again like it did in the 50's.

| 1. I imagined it several times while he was in office. It would have been a disaster. |

| 2. Can you imagine that the constant threat of war aided the Iranian hardliners at home? |

Can you imagine if Bush hadn't shoe-horned Iran into the "Axis of Evil" in 2003, and if he had not actively interfered in the Iranian election of 2005? His actions were like an endorsement for Ahmedinejad and the hardliners. I think intentionally so.
