| 6. David did live as an outlaw for a while, hiding out in caves. |

If the Governor really wants to push this analogy..... Early in his journey, David was chosen to succeed Saul as the king of Judah. Although Saul was initially impressed by David’s skills as a soldier, politician, and musician, Saul became wary of his successor, so he put out a contract on David’s life. David was forced to live on the run, often spending weeks hiding in the network of caves surrounding the Dead Sea. http://www.allaboutphilosophy.org/life-of-king-david.htm

Sanford is doing it wrong. What a surprise?

I personally don't think that one affair should disqualify a politician from public office. After all, in that Catholic of all Catholic countries, Italy, it appears that a politician can dilly-dally with any young woman of his choice at any time and still enjoy the support of the voters.
But, I don't think that is going to work well in South Carolina. The Republican Party probably won't want to risk it.
More than anything, this affair is a huge distraction -- especially because Gov. Sanford has been so quick to condemn others who had affairs or what he considers to be sinful sex lives.
Gov. Sanford, as President Eisenhower said, no man is indispensable. Get out while the getting is good -- if for no other reason than to take your children and the rest of your family out of the limelight. You have no idea what they will go through even if you don't stay in politics. If you do stay in a public position, they will really suffer.
