We are one step closer to EVERYBODY (except me) running for the presidency.
on a serious note:
Exactly what does he bring to the table that the other pukes don't?
McCain has the hypocritical liar vote Guliani has the swooning, misinformed, sheeple vote Romney has the ann 'shrill voice of treason' coulter vote Brownback has the extremist American Taliban vote Tancredo has the hate spewing, xenophobic, minority hating michael 'weiner' savage vote Fred Thompson has the couch potato vote
I mean where does thompson fit in?
Maybe the 'We hate the poor vote?" But he'd still have to compete against rudi and tancredo for those voters.

| 15. Tommy Thompson has the "health care is for the wealthy" vote. His tenure as director |
|
Under Thompson's term as Secretary Health and Human Services, the American health care crisis deepened tragically.

| 6. I don't know much about him, but he would win WI |
|
from what I can tell, and that makes his nomination unappealing to me. I am all for Mitt, who would lose MA, is an unabashed flip flopper, and woul lose a lot of votes (right or wrong) because of his religion

|
He was popular once, but we were plenty done with him by the time he left the governor's office...and left us with a record-breaking budget deficit..

| 13. I am talking about the WI that elected him 4 times by sizeable margins |
|
1986 Race for Governor o Tommy Thompson (R), 53% o Tony Earl (D) (inc.), 46%
1990 Race for Governor o Tommy Thompson (R), 58% o Tom Loftus (D), 42%
1994 Race for Governor o Tommy Thompson (R), 67% o Chuck Chvala (D), 31%
1998 Race for Governor o Tommy Thompson (R), 60% o Ed Garvey (D), 39%
It took 16 years for WI to be done with him? Yikes.
Further, in presidential elections WI is not historically as blue as people think. In 1992, WI voted 1% more Republican than the rest of the country. In 1996, they voted 2% more Democratic, in 2000 they voted 1% more Republican, in 2004 they voted 3% more Democratic.
Sound like a swing state to me.
Vice Presidential nominees usually get @ a 5% boost from their homestate, Presidential nominees get about a 10% boost.
