| How Are All Those Manolo-Wolo's Workin' For Ya, Sarah? |
|
Far and away my favorite part of "Game Change," the Heileman/Halperin best-seller about the 2008 campaign, is on page 369. The scene: Sarah Palin in a hotel suite, desperately cramming for her convention debut---in between fashion fittings. Stylists and scared-shitless McCain staffers milling around, racks of luxury outfits everywhere, seamstress at a sewing machine, and this:
"Boxes of Manolo Blahniks were piled up four feet high and stretching twenty feet along one wall of the living room."
Manolo Blahnik dress shoes go for anywhere from $400 to $800 a pair, and up. Care to estimate the cost of a 4' X 20' block of those babies? Let's hear it for Sarah Palin, populist heroine.
Oh, and by the way---"Game Change" provides repeated, persuasive, scary evidence that Sarah Palin and mental stability don't practice at the same firing range.......
