Right now, with the two extra inches we got this morning, I've got around six inches on the ground here in mid Missouri.

We got about four days warm enough to melt off a lot of the snow, but then boom, more snow and it's been on the ground for at least a couple of weeks now.

But hey, snow puts lots of airborne nitrogen back into the ground.

17. Up here in southern NH we have very little.

The last storm that hit us was weeks ago. I can't even remember when it was. Last year it seemed like it snowed every 3rd or 4th day from mid-December until early April. As I recall, they said at the time that it was the second snowiest(?) winter since records had been kept. This is much better.

Little experience with it, no budget for it. Stay safe, and do make sure you go out and enjoy it.

Just don't go driving unless you absolutely have to. One thing I've noticed about transplanted southerners, the first snow storm they usually wind up in the ditch or in a wreck.

37. It IS a nightmare.

I was born and raised in Chicago. All I can do is shake my head. I had my fill of snow when I was a kid, and I HATE the stuff. I swear, just the mere forecast of possible snow causes people around here to lose their sanity. We don't get much here, but when we do see it, I wind up a prisoner in my own home, because, as you pointed out, nobody here knows how to drive in it. I don't dare get on the road with these idiots. They think they can still do the speed limit, especially if they are driving a 4WD vehicle. Forget about going anywhere near the grocery stores. Everybody is lined up to buy milk and bread. They act like they're going to be snowbound for weeks, even though the stuff will be melted by the end of the day tomorrow.

at least my darling grand daughter thinks so. We had sun today and 33 temp so the snow is at least staring to melt out of the parking lot. You oughta see the grounds where the plow pushed up the snow. Some places are over 7 feet deep.

We've got about a foot of snow on the ground. Most of it is old snow, though. We did get a little more the other night.

We're having a very mild winter.

When I was younger and wilder I always used to look forward to winter, if for no other reason than snow bongs. Now I just appreciate the beauty of snow on the fields.

I know I've been in Texas when just a little snow is on the ground and people out on the road go nuts. I saw at least ten people in the ditch outside of Austin a few years back and it had maybe snowed an inch, maybe two. With nine inches on the ground it must be insane. Stay safe.

And take some time out to enjoy the novelty of it. Disasters like this are a major pain, but I also find them awe inspiring. I live smack in the middle of where the Great Flood of '93 came through, and while it was a mess, a disaster, a tragedy, it was also simply awe inspiring, all that water flowing through, tearing up the countryside. We wound up with new lakes dug out by the flood that are still around today, complete with fish that got stranded.

At some places in NYC, they call it the "Nutty Irishman". It consists of Bailey's, Frangelico, and coffee. Top it off with whipped cream and cinnamon. Now that's good.

Mix red wine, grated almonds, raisins, nutmeg, stick cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar and a bit of moonshine(substitute Everclear here), heat it until it's nice and warm, then drink while warm. Lovely taste, nice and warm, hits you like a ton of bricks, especially when you eat the almonds and raisins at the bottom of the cup. Old German mulled wines are great.

Here in Ft Worth it started snowing about 2am Thursday morning when I was at work (I work nights) and did not stop until about 5pm on Thursday. I simply could not believe it. What was truly amazing was driving in it. My normal drive home from work is about 15 minutes all on the freeway. Yesterday, I drove home on surface streets and it took me an hour, snowing all the way.

36 here in Anchorage and warmer down on the Kenai Peninsula. We do have snow on the ground, though. In my 35 years of living here, we've never had it completely disappear before winter is over. Messy and slushy sometimes, for sure, but it mostly just sticks around.
