In this article it would be nice to see the actual difference reiterated. As far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Boston Tea Party was the citizens of this country rebelling against being taxed by someone else's Government. By a Government in which they didn't have representation.
Now one could argue from either side, that we don't have representation. When you are a Dem in Nebraska, you have the Repugs, and Ben Nelson. Not really a progressive's idea of representing one's beliefs. But they can be voted in, or out, by the citizens of Nebraska.
The Tea Baggers, as we like to call them, seem to be rebelling against Taxation by their OWN government. Although, the true members who aren't toothless inbred high school drop outs, actually get that the Government is bought and paid for and their taxes are thus waisted, or used on useless pork, or that those with more income get all the rewards (as their own Nashville Tea Bagger Convention basically shoved in their faces).
Though it may be semantics, it just seems the Tea Party movement is not really a good term to use.
I like the idea of the Coffee Party movement. Progressive, but tolerant of other ideas, and common sense based. I'd imagine they would support Single Payer, because Corporatist Insurers are killing the people of this country that don't have the means(despite what the GOP harps), which I'd say the Tea Baggers would support on that logic but doesn't because government is "bad". The Coffee Party would, however, leave things that work to the Free Market, but would realize that there would be as much Government regulation as needed to prevent fraud and the abuse of it's citizens. People first. The Government is there to help.
Of course all discrimination would not be tolerated. DADT is gone. Same Sex marriage is in. You're hate of someone else, someone that doesn't change your life except in your head, is not reason to deny rights.
If you don't like it, vote. Don't fly your plane into a building. Don't shoot your teacher or boss. Don't' tell other countries what to say or think or live. Otherwise, cash out, buy your guns, hire Black Water and move to Somalia or Nigeria, where there is apparently no Government looking after anyone's rights.
Why's it so hard. Millions of years of Evolution and we're still doing this shit. Or if you will, dropped on Earth by God, and still doing this shit to our fellow humans (and non-humans), that too, we're dropped on Earth, by God.
Yes, Coffee Party! Wake up people!
