How long before actual physical brawls return to the House of Representatives?

Back in the day, they used to actually fight. Whack each other with canes, etc. It seems to me that the Republicans are bringing those days back whilst lamenting the loss of comity in the House.

I can't believe how this is going down. The have no shame and what's left of their party has no shame.

All the while the base has no clue what actually is in the bill that just passed acting out on pure FUD mongered by the media. Acorn has been bullied out of business and the reporting on that tonight makes no mention that it was *ALL* based on bullying and flat out lies.

What is going to have to happen to end this bullshit? I'm at a total loss here people. I have lost my compass and have nary a clue how to improve this situation.

6. Well Beth, I guess I am volunteering but for what I don't know.

I'm home from the hospital :D The trach came out Sunday and I was discharged. Right now I'm still loaded up on steroids and antibiotics, but I have an open and functional airway so there is that as a positive force in my life, lol.

I'm really tired because I can't use my bipap machine to sleep with the tracheotomy wound being open, it just makes neck farts, lol. At least I'm not being hassled to get back to work, they are being very patient and saying we don't want you to even think about this place until you are 100%.

All in all while life ain't good, it ain't as horrible as it could be, so I'll call that being good ;)

Funny, I wasn't scared until last night and today when it all started sinking in just how close I came to facing a truly fatal situation. I'm now actually convinced that the ENT Dr actually did save my life.

20. The whole situation was pretty surreal for me...

My sister who is here said to tell you she was in Virginia when I called her saying I'm heading over to the ER to get a trach put in like it's no big deal. Now realize that she is an RN, who works in an ER. All she really said was make sure they call an anesthesiologist to do the intubation.

Not many people replied to my post, I'm starting to wonder if I still have friends around here. I know you are hon.

Thinking about it a nice scarf would be a cool memento.

out of my house. It was so weird to hear it because it sounded like I was asking for a cup of sugar. I think that's called shock.

It all happened too fast for me to get scared about it, and if I didn't laugh, I'd shoot myself in the head, lol. So I choose to laugh. After all, having dealt with 8 years of Bush, this is duck soup.

... I wasn't sure you were okay.

I know I posted some info about your condition as I was reading it, but I stopped when I realized it would quickly get to be TMI and scare you when you needed to be calm -- turns out that's the big reason they try to keep you very very calm: anxiety can make the "unstable airway" completely close off. So can sticking the scope down there -- no wonder your ENT went pale!

Anyhow, really glad to see you are back home and back at DU and getting some rest. :hug:

39. Sorry for that I should have followed up...

By the time I posted anything the airway was secured and I was in the impatient mode of waiting for the drugs to do their thing.

One thing I will be doing is to have a list of places for announcements to be made should anything like this happen again that I can give to my sister or someone and make sure the word gets out.

I should probably post an OP that tells the whole story, including the exciting bedside re-insertion of the trach when it fell out. I have no neck or a football lineman's neck, and the trach kit just reached but needed to be sewn in, and even being sewn in, had issues within the first 24 hours.

Anyway, I'm on the high road to recovery, being weaned off the steroids, etc.
