Suddenly all the wingnuts in my sight have started going on about how Pelosi wants to regulate the Interenet, stifling free enterprise. Darned if I can figure out what it's about, but someone certainly launched a talking point over there.

1. Yep, my husband brought that home from his wingnut coworker. |
|
I think it has to do with enforcing net neutrality.

4. Yes, the FCC is asserting it has the right to enforce net neutrality. All of a sudden this is bad. |

Because they're sure to think keeping Comcast in line would stifle free enterprise. I'm amazed at how they all get the same message at the same moment--do they have implanted chips or something?

7. Comcast, with the help of CNet's editor, are cranking up the idea that enforcing net neutrality is |
|
communism.
And people are gobbling it up.

8. I'd like to give the head of Comcast a purple nurple. |
|
Not for any net neutrality reason, but because my service goes out like once a week and it's a fucking ordeal to get someone out to fix it.

10. It's astroturf. I can spot this stuff a mile away. |
|
Anymore astroturf is completely obvious to me. It seems like people should be able to see through it, but they don't.
I wish I knew how we could combat it better.

11. Freeperville has jumped the mother of all sharks |

They want the telcos to be able to shut them down.
The way the nutters have done a 180 on net neutrality is an impressive demonstration of their ability to no recognize their own self interest.
I gotta hand it to the telcos on this one. To sit around a conference table and say, "I know... We'll convince political groups on the Internet to oppose free access to their own stuff!" really took guts and a deep understanding of how remarkably dense those people are.
