(CNN) -- The Oklahoma City area was dealing with vicious flash-flooding and scattered power outages Monday after what CNN meteorologist Jacqui Jeras called "backbuilding thunderstorms," a series of heavy rain cores without intermittent periods of let-up.

The National Weather Service said almost 10 inches of rain fell between 2 a.m. CT and 11 a.m. CT and Tim Hartley of Oklahoma Gas & Electric says that's left about 4,000 customers without power.

It's a "bad situation throughout the entire county," Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Myers said.

CNN affiliate KOCO reported that portions of Interstate 35, Interstate 40 and Interstate 44 in the Oklahoma City area had flooded. ........(more)

I saw the video of the woman being rescued from the tree and the street sign said Sooner Road.

River Oaks Golf Club development. However, the nearly all the hoods in metro OKC were affected.

8. Here's a video of a girl that was rescued during the flood

CBS News correspondent Don Teague reported the flash flooding was of historic proportions, stranding and submerging cars and closing interstates and city streets for most of the day

Teague said the torrential downpour shattered an 80 year old record. It was more than double the normal amount the city receives in the entire month of June.

Firefighters had to rescue a couple of children from a house here.

There were no reported deaths or injuries, but 50 people had to be rescued after they were trapped by rising floodwaters.

Raquel Dawson, 17, left her car and waded into the water to help a stranded motorist. But while the other motorist made it to safety, Dawson didn't, and had to swim from tree to tree as the water rose.
