| Iraq non-binding resolution -- are you banging your head on the wall too? |
|
There are non-binding resolutions regarding the Iraq surge floating around congress. Some are strongly worded, others are designed to soften the blow...
The White House came out the other day and said they would accept the "republican version" of the non-binding resolution...
Gonzales was asked by Congress "It's it ok to criticize the president?"
Spector said yesterday "we're the decision-makers" (He'll probably back off on that today)
Meanwhile Bush is reminding us he's the decider, Cheney is reminding us he's the VP and we're not - basically saying "go F--- yourselves, we do what we want"
What I'm seeing are presidential candidates pussy-footing around the whole Iraq mess, hopping from one side of the fence to the other, and doing the balance-beam routine along the top of the fence. I'm seeing a Congress fluffing up the wording so bush won't get hurt when/if the resolution is ever delivered.
the latest pillow-fluffing on the resolution is to word it so it "chides" the action but still shows respect for the president.
SCREW THE FLUFFING! THE WAR WAS WRONG WHEN THE FREAKING DECIDER DECIDED TO INVADE, IT'S WRONG NOW THAT THE FREAKING DECIDER HAS DECIDED TO ESCALATE IT, AND IT'LL STILL BE WRONG TWO YEARS FROM NOW AND DUMPED INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S LAP.
It's freaking time for congress to show some backbone, show some balls, enough of the fluffy words so bush's feelings are not hurt - F--K the non-binding resolution and go straight to impeachment.

I mean , golly, decorum and class demand respect be shown to a head of state no matter how many people he orders tortured, or detained without due process, or kidnapped off the streets, or renditioned or "aggressively interrogated".
Iffen anyone needs a sarcasm tag...see a doctor.

It's GOOD to respect the war criminal. And when he starts dropping bombs on Iran Congress should kindly tut-tut him, otherwise he might send them to the cornfield!! (If they aren't hiding there already.)

And King "Howdy Doody" of The Senate's peanut gallery has got to be our dear democratic Senator Charles Schumer. :eyes: Talk about yammering on about committees and values for an half an hour BUT not standing-up FIRMLY for a damn thing!?!
We need to DEMAND that our democratic representatives actually LEGISLATE instead of pontificate! :grr:

|
They aren't pussyfooting around, they are coming out and openly confronting this misadministration in word and deed. Their viewpoints probably most accurately represent the view of the majority of Americans on the war and our president. Yet all of the so-called Democratic leaders aren't wanting to acknowledge this truth, because their corporate backers and professional handlers are telling them to soft sell bringing the war to an end. Thus we progress in fits and starts, with half measures and half truths. It is time for us to remind our Democratic majority that we put them in power to end this war, not to let it expand to Iran or drag on for another two years.

| 8. Agree. Senator Pryor (D) on C-SPAN is now apologetic of King George. |

I can't, for the life of me, understand how divorced from reality Our Democratic Senators must be to claim that "The President honestly cares." It's sickening and I don't think that they believe that us "chattering classes" can discern his unabashed DISHONESTY. :( :puke:
You're right, WEBB and KUCINICH treat the American People like educated adults instead of trying to condescend and placate the masses.
I'm sick of *some* of our Democratic representatives assuming that the people are stupid. Hello! When will they stand up for the people? - King George has a 28% approval rate -
Dear vacillating CONGRESS, it's beyond time to TAKE CHARGE to stop the killing. But no, they let the harsh language of the far right help them to cower into the corners, triangulate and pass NON-BINDING resolutions.
Someone (another Democrat) needs to challenge Senator Pryor in his next primary. (D-Arkansas): "President Bush really tried ... blah blah blah" ... what a tool! :grr:

Years ago he'd have declared to be a Republican. He should be challenged - given the way he supports King George. :(
Hell, he just apologized for Darth Cheney, "The American People have voted him in."
Well, Senator Pryor, you can investigate and impeach him OUT. <hint hint>

The Bread and Circuses that the whorish media and spineless politicians are providing us will keep the people placated until THEY HURT BAD FINANCIALLY.
When that time comes, I hope and pray that we can pick up the pieces and wash out all these sick minded corporate ideologues and war profiteers.
We might as well find humor because the people do not seem to be fighting this upcoming beat of war drums to prepare for a full blown air bombing of Iran. "All the options are on the table" = we're gonna bomb the sh*t out of Iran.
Those expensive bombs are NOT going to blow up themselves so what do you expect the Military Industrial Complex to do? :sarcasm:
Dear God I'm depressed. It's beyond time to disconnect unless or until the American People wake the hell up.

supports Bush either openly (just a few), or by only talking, using smoke and mirrors to pretend to honor the elections last November.
If they were serious about doing their constitutional duty, they would get behind a serious, meaningful resolution and go with it.
Its a fuck side show and it is disgusting

After I return home from taking the kids to Karate Classes, I'm going to kick back, enjoy an adult beverage (only one! - well strong one ) and enjoy my DVDs of "The Rockford Files." After all, even us good and loyal Peace-mongers need a little down time. ;)
Here's to "the beautiful dream" of The American people FORCING our spineless politicians to do what's right! :toast:
As the great social scientist, Jimmy Buffet Croons, "If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane." :hi:
