Memo to staff of Rep. Thomas M. Davis III (R-Va): Please brief the boss on the definition of "doobie."
Davis drew a blank on the slang for a marijuana joint during his appearance on the "Know a District" segment of "The Colbert Report," which aired last night on Comedy Central. It came up when Colbert, who plays a right-wing cable blowhard, asked Davis to back up his claim that Northern Virginia's 11th congressional district was "great."
In an apparent attempt to be whimsical and hip, he said it was the home of Doobie Brothers drummer John Hartman, who was born in Falls Church and was a classmate of Davis' at Jeb Stuart High School. Davis said he was a fan of the group.
"Are you familiar with what a doobie is?" Colbert asked, ticking off several other cannabis synonyms that Davis didn't get.
"That's a foreign "That's a foreign language," Davis said, then, trying to change to the subject, added: "We have 120 foreign languages in Fairfax County spoken in our schools.."
WHAT A DOOF!!!! Oh yeah, he's MY DOOF! D'OH!
