| Poll question: If Al Gore endorses a candidate in the primaries, will that influence your vote? |
|
Edited on Fri May-25-07 01:50 PM by me b zola
When Al Gore was interviewed on Larry King the other night he stated that if he doen't run for president that he will definitely endorse a candidate in the primaries. He didn't hedge, he sounded like a man who knew of a candidate that he could get behind.
I have seen people across the spectrum of Democratic thought say that they would vote for Gore if he ran. People who like Kucinich to people who like Clinton have said that they would vote for Gore if he ran. But what if he doesn't run? What if Gore endorses a candidate?
If Gore endorses a candidate in the primaries, will that influence your vote?
I would love for people who are already leaning towards or are already supporting a candidate tell us how they voted in this poll.

| 2. No. I choose to place my vote. Scores from advocacy groups or endorsements by celebrities |
|
don't play into my decision making.

|
At least, not in the primaries.

about candidates unless I have some reason to believe he's going to be involved in the administration (or he has some kind of pertinent secret information to share).

But I think he will be endorsing himself by then so he definitely has my vote. :patriot:

It was only the closest of the choices.
I'll listen to what he says, but I may or may not agree with him. I'll most likely make my choice independent of whom he endorses unless he has some ringing argument why he's right (and I was leaning toward someone else).

| 10. If Gore and Feingold both endorsed the same candidate, and it wasn't Edwards, |
|
that would give me pause for a moment. If they both endorsed Edwards, I'd be thrilled. If they endorse different candidates, then I probably wouldn't give it much notice.

| 13. Yes, Feingold's endorsement will also weigh in my decision making |
|
I have a feeling that Gore is going to endorse Edwards. Thinking of the choices, Feingold may very endorse Edwards as well. :)

| 12. It would matter, but it won't be the only factor; |
|
My thought is this: I'll be voting in the California primary, and if polls show the outcome is pretty cut and dried, I'd vote for Kucinich. If it's close between HClinton and Obama, I'll vote for Obama. If it's close between HClinton and Edwards, I'll vote for Edwards. But if I have to choose between Edwards and Obama, THAT's where Gore's endorsement would be a big help: I like but don't quite love both of them.

| 15. Kerry's endorsement will matter more. |
|
But Gore's will matter. More importantly, the rationales they give for their endorsements.

If Gore ran, I would vote for him. I value his judgement and opinion and I just can't see him endorsing a candidate that I feel plays footsie with the gop or is too closely tied to corporporate interterest. That said, Gore's endorsement will heavily influence my decision, but I will take other matters into consideration as well.

I DO care what Al says. If he runs I'll vote for him. If he doesn't run, I don't care WHO endorses whom - I'll make up my own mind. Hey, nobody endorsed Al to make me choose him!
