| 2. Is that from recycled plastic bags? |
|
I've seen some patterns for those - definitely cool.
I would probably try a smaller project for a first if you are just learning - maybe a hat or something, just to learn the basics before starting a larger project, but if you are a jump-in-feet-first type of person, go for it!
I'm making shopping bags with burlap - faster than knitting them :D.

| 3. No, this pattern calls for organic cotton. |

I don't know enough about it to say whether it would also work with recycled plastic. Do they make such a yarn? That would be cool!
I have a "learn-to-knit" kit for a baby cap and slippers, I think. Maybe I should do that first and then try this one! :)

| 4. I am making one of those right now |

You might want to start with something smaller. Even though it is mostly knit stitc, the circular needles can be a little intimidating to a new knitter (I admit I was intimidated by them!!).

| 5. I just finished one AND just posted about it in the |
|
knitting and crocheting inspiration thread.
It's VERY easy, and a hoot to boot. Works up quickly.
I used the much, much cheaper Lion Cotton (dishcloth cotton, basically) which I believe I got from Michael's (not sure). I screwed mine up because I didn't pay close enough attention to the instructions: you start with the contrasting color. So mine's all white, but I've got a little plan for dressing it up just a bit.
I'm going to do several more.
