| Help! From the fellow sewing people! |

I am making a blouse for myself and I have cut out and marked all the pieces.
The second sewing step calls for sewing together the two bodice pieces to the dot. There was no dot, nor were there any other markings in that area on the pattern piece for the bodice.
What do I do?

Stupid question lol. I would double and triple check for markings, then if there were none I guess I would try to line everything up as best I could and hope for the best - if it doesn't come out right, rip it and try again...

| 2. nowadays the dots are easy to miss |
|
the dot should be on the sewing line of the pattern piece....I've seen some "dots" barely larger than the sewing line, and some dots are larger and quite obvious

| 4. Was there a HOLE in the pattern piece? |
|
That looked like it had been punched out? If so, that's your dot.
What pattern is this? I've never found a commercial pattern that didn't have seam allowance markings (dotted lines...solid lines were for cutting)

The pattern is a New Look pattern. Style number 6515.
The bodice front piece (cut two) is almost triangular in shape. There is a dashed line going down where the bodice center should be.
The bodice has a criss cross to it.

| 7. I just made 2 dresses last week |

....and there were no seam allowance lines on either pattern. I was wondering when they did away with them.
BTW....I used 2 McCalls patterns

| 8. Late reply, but I just used a relatively new Simplicity |
|
pattern and there were no seam line markings on it, either. "Relatively" new because I bought it several months ago (#4076, set of knit-fabric tops).
In fact, what markings there were on the pattern were not identified and I was pretty much disgusted with the quality of the pattern. I've been sewing for over 40 years and I've had my quarrels with patterns -- Simplicity, McCall's, Butterick, Vogue -- but this was one of the worst. And putting 5 sizes on one pattern is stupid. I'm just glad I got it on sale at JoAnn's for $1; the listed price is $14.95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
