some sort of lace-making, like crocheted lace, then added hand-embroidered embellishments? On shawls or tablecloths or the like? Also, I'd be interested to know if anyone's ever done any reticella lace making. It seems like it would be beautiful if you could afford the right fabric, but if I could buy really nice fabric, I would be afraid to mess it all up.

....a long time ago. Haven't done any in 25 years....I got tired of holes in my finger from the tiny hook.
My grandmother had a friend who would make reticella lace, it was beautiful. I say try it, I'm sure you'll make some mistakes but that's just part of learning a new craft. If you do try, we want pictures and details. :evilgrin:
