| I've just discovered baby alpaca |

I just might never go back to another yarn! It's so soft to work with! I'm making a scarf & hat for myself, since I made lots of stuff for other people for Christmas & realized that I hadn't made one thing for myself!

| 1. Wait until you figure you can afford at least one hank of cashmere. |

I love baby alpaca, too, but after knitting the christening outfit for my grand niece in cashmere, I really wish I could afford to replace my whole stash with it.

I think I'll wait. :P
I like alpaca since I am (supposedly) allergic to wool & alpaca is hypoallergenic. Finally, a natural fiber I can wear! :bounce:

Great yarn.
Have you looked at No Sheep for You by Amy Singer? It's great on non-animal fibers and how to use them with great patterns and ideas in it. I think everyone should have a copy, even those of us who can't work with cotton.
