Looking to share art/craft show display tips

I've been doing arts & crafts shows for over 30 years but I've never really mastered the art of display. Since the holiday show season is coming up I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, ideas, tips, tricks, or other information to share?

1. Background

I've found that when displaying in a venue with many other booths all clamoring for attention, it's easy to experience sensory overload. So I try to keep a very simple background using one main color and a minimum of decorative props.
Because I create colorful wovens, artwork and jewelry, I tend to use neutral gray to set the colors off. When working with a tent/canopy outdoors, I use sheer plain color curtains on at least 2 sides to screen out the "noise" of the surrounding scenery-this makes it easier for customers to focus on my booth...

2. Indoors or outside?

Most of my shows were inside, as my product (glass) didn't fare well when the wind kicked up. Learned that one the expensive way when a sudden gust blew the entire display over. Lighting was always essential, and I'd made display shelves with lighting beneath them; also had some 'uplights' to showcase hanging pieces. Later, when I did decorative wood pieces, I'd get a couple of those metallic helium balloons to create some motion within the displays. I still have some diplay units that I can store in a closet; minimal assembly required, but they're handy for showing clothing, hats, pictures, etc. If you're interested I can send a more detailed description of them, they're easy to make.
