| simple and quick make-it-yourself shuttle for tatting (a kind of lacemaking) |

all you need is *a plastic lid (or similar thin stiff starting material) *scissors *paper hole-punch *sharp knife for trimming rough edges (personally I'd rather use the scissors & a nail file) *glue - optional, to glue layers together for a thicker shuttle http://makelittlethings.blogspot.com/2010/07/tutorial-cheap-easy-plastic-tatting.htmlbasic tatting lesson: http://www.thisntat.com/lessons1.html

she was going to show me but we never got around to it. I'd still like to learn though.

| 2. My grandmother did, too. Apparently it was pretty popular 90-100 years ago. |

| 3. Tatting is probably one of the most tedious, time-consuming |
|
of all yarn/thread crafts, but it yields lovely results. Good to know it hasn't been lost entirely.
I haven't tatted in years and probably have just about forgotten how. I still have lots of pattern books and thread and at least two or three shuttles.
TG, who does NOT need any more hobbies!
