Not an anthropologist as such, but a researcher in developmental psychology, with some interests in cross-cultural issues.

I view most questions through the "competition for scarce resources" lens, so this group will be of great interest to me.

I was really excited to see this group when I logged in just now - I'm an anthropology major, and I'm looking forward to discussing the subject with others who are interested. :D :hi:

I have a BA in Anthropology...but that's it.
Still feel an attachment to the subject, even though my life went in a different direction.

After college I went into a social services career for almost 30 years. It all seemed to fit together.
Nice to see others like me who majored and maintain a personal interest.

I'm an enthusiast mainly interested in the cultural aspects of anthropology and so-called "pre-history". I believe it's important for our young culture to recognize that we don't represent humanity, that we should open our eyes to the success of thousands of other human cultures, and that we desperately need to figure out what it is about our culture that basically compels its members to participate in making the earth uninhabitable to humans and other life forms.

I have a BA in Anthropology and worked contract archaeology in the field until I was 7 months pregnant and then went into the lab. I quit to stay home with my baby (who is now 8) and never got back into the field.
I have done fieldwork in Israel, Peru, Chile, Belize and New York.
I am so glad we have a group!

I love archaeology and would have made it my career if I thought I could get a good paying job in the midwest. I considered linguistics but the best schools were too far away for this non-trad. I did attend an archaeology field school in college because I couldn't help myself. It was a blast, even though we didn't find anything too exciting.
So for me it's just something I admire from a distance. But I do enjoy reading about new Mayan finds as well as new discoveries related to neanderthals.
I'm thrilled someone thought to start this group!

I'm the one who drummed this up in the first place, so it's time to post, post, post!
My interests are extremely broad, from Bronze Age and Precolumbian cultures to modern urban ethnography.
I am also fascinated by paleontology, physical anthropology, and prehistoric human development, though I don't really consider myself informed enough to write on these topics.
