Joe is staying on Water Island in the US Virgin Islands
Edited on Sat Dec-27-08 09:53 PM by Jennicut
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his

family are in the U.S. Virgin Islands for a brief vacation.

A government spokesman says Gov. John deJongh greeted Biden at the airport.

Jean Greaux said Saturday that Biden is "here for a couple of days of rest and relaxation."

The St. John Source newspaper reported that Biden is staying at a private house on Water Island.

President-elect Barack Obama visited the U.S. Caribbean territory with his family in March.

a year ago with my family. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-12-27-virgin-islands_N.htm

I visited Water Island about two years ago with my family, we went on an excursion there during a cruise with Royal Caribbean. Its a tiny little island, so small that the post office is like the size of a shack. I went bike riding there with my brother and his wife and we hung out at a beautiful area called Honeymoon Beach afterwords. Beautiful, uninhabited and very private. I think Joe and Jill will love it there. Only problem I had was the misquotes, they were small but numerous and I was all bitten up at the end of the day. :( This was in May so in December I think that is not a problem. Hope Joe and his family have a great time there. One strange thing about Water Island I remember them telling us about is that they must get things from the main Virgin Islands and bring them over to Water Island, there really is nothing there, its so small and desolate. They have one main road and it goes up the side of the island but its very steep and curvy. It was really getting back to nature there.

1. Oh man...I was on St. John's in 1984
for 10 days at Caneel Bay. It was really nice, except for the barracuda at Trunk Bay. LOL. I don't do fish with teeth. :scared:

4. yep!
I was young and silly, I dragged 3 big, huge suitcases filled to the brim. I didn't know about the ferry transfer from St. Thomas to St. Johns, that was a real pain.

6. Fish should not have teeth. It's just not natural.
I was in the Keys once, floating on a air mattress. I was gazing into the water, when this huge 'cuda came cruising through. I freaked out. It sort of hung around, swimming toward shore, then back around, and believe me, not a toe or finger dipped into the water. I was worried about floating out to sea, since I couldn't get myself to paddle into shore. Then I hear these kids on the beach yelling..."Wow, look at all the barracudas...cool..." It's funny now, but I really was freaked out. Fish with teeth...not good.

Talk about unnatural...check these out:

It's the mouthful a sheepshead has.

And this guy looks friendly:

It's a gangster fish.

Nope, just not right!

8. Now THAT is my idea of a holiday vacation
I HATE cold weather :scared:

We have a friend in New Zealand; I'm hoping one of these days we can spend Christmas in Auckland (since it's summer there now). I can dream...
