Bolivia's Morales to meet with France's Sarkozy

PARIS: Bolivian President Evo Morales is expected to meet representatives of the French oil and gas giant Total on a visit to Paris this week.

Bolivia, an impoverished South American nation, has large gas reserves. Morales is also expected to meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Morales arrived in the French capital Tuesday. He was traveling from Moscow, where he held talks Monday with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Medvedev announced plans to provide helicopters for Bolivia's anti-narcotics efforts. The Russian and Bolivian leaders also signed a declaration emphasizing their opposition to U.S. policies, including the embargo against Cuba, plans for a missile shield in Europe and NATO expansion.
