Cuban, Russian parliaments sign co-op agreement

The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia signed on Thursday a parliamentary cooperation agreement with the Cuban Popular Power National Assembly.
The agreement covers culture, public health, education and ecology.
This is the first time that the Russian parliament has signed a cooperation agreement with a Latin American country's legislature.
"The two legislative bodies will continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation," said President of the Russian State Duma Boris Gryzlov after the signing ceremony.
Ricardo Alarcon, president of the Popular Power National Assembly, said, "The ties of friendship and mutual support between the parliaments of Cuba and Russia are a reflection of fraternal, strong, relations between the two nations."
