Perhaps we need a new label.
Single payer universal health insurance seems confusing to some people about what it really is and the corporate health care giants jump right in with the red herring that government will be between you and your doctor. As a matter of fact, they love this argument and have used it all the way back to the Harry and Louise ads. Perhaps we need to call it government secured health insurance. Medicare operates like health insurance, with the big difference that it actually delivers health care instead of profits. I think emphasizing the insurance part of it gives the enemy less room to propagandize the evil of government backed health care because it would make them look like they are also getting in the middle of a patient and his doctor, which is true but they don't really want you to know that.

2. Not for profit should be in there somewhere...
terms are being confused.

Howard Dean says single-payer is not off the table, you can chose a public option (single-payer) or keep your private insurance.

Obama refers to single-payer and then mentions he is not for "government run health care" and the public option will not lead to one.
